Born in the heart of Texas, Hum A Cappella is the University of Texas’ very own South Asian fusion a cappella group. They are competing in UpStaged AID’s Southwest Region with their rendition of Bheege, featuring soloists Ajay Thatte, Sumedha Nag and Rupasri Shankar
and arranged by: Rupasri Shankar. The group is competing for the Lebanese Red Cross (http://www.redcross.org.lb/index.aspx?pageid=907).

Mind the Gap is the gender-inclusive a cappella group on campus at the University of Oregon competing in UpStaged AID’s West Region. They submitted their mashup of Rise / The Weekend, originally performed by Solange/SZA (feat. Calvin Harris) and selected to appear on BOCA 2020! They are competing for Don’t Shoot Portland (https://www.dontshootpdx.org).

We were so thrilled to sit down with UpStaged AID competitors, Out of the Blue, the oldest, all-female a cappella group at Duke University. We spoke with Rebecca and Julia about the importance of their charity, The Trevor Project (https://www.thetrevorproject.org), and their submission Muddy Waters, originally performed by LP. These ladies had so many thoughtful things to say about their process in creating this song and this video.
